S.A Mayatta School History and Situation Analysis
Started in the Late 1930s,situated along Embu -Kianjokoma road; 15km from Embu Town. The school has served the community well through improving the literacy levels(A study needs be done to determine the level as to-date). A day Secondary School,S.A.Manyatta Mixed Day School, was annexed from the primary school in the year 2006. The two schools are environmentally conserved except for the use of renewable energy sources which the managements have been advised to partner with organizations with the potential to facilitate actualization. To develop a wholistic person, the good life survival skills are encouraged through lessons, practical, counselling and religious teachings. Community mobilization to support the schools has been very resourceful for the far the schools are today. The key challenges the schools face are; recreational hall which can be used for theatre art, a modern equipped digital library and moderate transport(bus). The other partners who have assisted in the school development include Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Education and Constituency Development Fund, bursary funds and the Sponsor Church -The Salvation Army -Kenya East Territory.
Finally is a passionate appeal to other partners in socioeconomic development circles; Educational Foundations, Environmental Organizations, NGOs, Resilience programmes, Financial Institutions among others to assist in making these institutions environmental friendly for them to achieve their common mandate, derived from the Constitution of Kenya (2010) of the provisions on children’s right to free and compulsory basic education, including quality services, and to access education institutions and facilities for persons with disabilities that are integrated into society, to the extent compatible with the interests of the person.
