SOKOSHAMBANI is a revolutionary program that takes an innovative approach to addressing the challenges faced by small-scale/smallholder farmers. Instead of focusing on the farmers themselves, SOKOSHAMBANI facilitates market entities to reach out and trade directly with the small-scale farmers. This USAID-supported initiative provides the farmers with access to high-grade seeds and inputs for production of high-quality commodities, as well as financing and a weather-indexed insurance package. By connecting the farmers with the market, SOKOSHAMBANI is able to break the cycle of food insecurity and poverty, providing the farmers with the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
