Company description
Coast Coconut Farms was established in 2005 by The Pope Foundation as a development project with a mission to provide employment, management, and ownership opportunities for the rural people of Kenya. To accomplish this, they have implemented two strategies: larger production facilities and small micro-franchises. The large production facilities, owned by Coast Coconut Farms, employ 23 people and produce larger quantities of oil, which is sold across Africa, Europe, and the United States. Both systems use a Direct Micro Expelling process that is entirely sustainable and friendly to the environment. The coconut meat is used for oil, the milk is given to the local population, the husks and shells are used for fuel and charcoal, the lye from the charcoal is utilized for making soap, and the cake leftover from pressing is used for baking or cattle feed.
