Wetlands International is the only global Non-Governmental Organisation dedicated to wetlands. In Eastern Africa, Wetlands International has a representation and implements programmes in Kenya (Ewaso Ng'iro Catchment, Kajiado and Laikipia), Ethiopia (Jijiga; Ziway Abijatta Shalla sub-basin), Uganda (Ruwenzori and Karamoja regions), Tanzania (Rufiji Delta), South Sudan (Eastern Equatoria – Kinnaite River Catchment) and transboundary wetlands for the River Nile basin.

We are driven by the knowledge that safeguarding and restoring wetlands is urgent and vital for water security, biodiversity, climate regulation, sustainable development and human health.
