Kenya Power owns and operates most of the electricity transmission and distribution system in the country and sells electricity to over 6,761,090 million by end of June 2018.
The Company’s key mandate is to plan for sufficient electricity generation and transmission capacity to meet demand; building and maintaining the power distribution and transmission network and retailing of electricity to its customers.
The Government has a controlling stake at 50.1% of shareholding with private investors at 49.9%. Kenya Power is listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

Please can you help, I had been applying for power connection for several time but every time the bills come very. 0ne million ,hundreds of thousands, I really I cannot understand why though I am from the village far away from the main road where the transformer is but that not see as a reason coz last time you said we need to pay khs:75,000 if you are away from the transformer but even that the bill cannot come as 75,000 instead of millions or hundreds of thousand. I think the government said the fee to connect any power is khs:35,000 and today the madarakas present speech said it will be ksh:15,000 to all the village over Kenya. I am really need a help cause I built my, and a business house as well and I did fully wiring and a meter box fix thing remaining is the polls to comedown and also to do the power connection .it come up 4years now suffering from this dieses which is not fair for me and my family, community and the neighbours because I believe for me having electricity connection down to my home village then, will aid everyone at village and this mean development to village. I am from veterinary,sabaki sub-location in Malindi district /Kenya. Its just after mijinda stage on the Lamu road,then carry on upto Mwangani stage,then turn left and follow the road all the way and it take you there, please advise, and help me on how to get power connected at my village, home.
