Job Role: Accountant at Education Development Center (EDC)
The Accountant position at EDC involves assisting the Finance and Administration Manager with various accounting tasks, such as preparing financial reports, maintaining QuickBooks records, managing vendor payments, and ensuring compliance with USAID financial regulations. The role includes handling financial documentation with confidentiality and conducting monthly financial tasks, including bank reconciliations and cash flow forecasts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support in preparing monthly financial reports and track budget.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws and organizational policies.
- Manage financial documentation and digital archiving in line with EDC's policies.
- Work on VAT refunds and maintain diligent financial records and compliance checks.
Qualifications:
Prospective candidates should have a secondary education, preferable additional technical training, and 4-5 years of relevant accounting experience, particularly with USAID-funded projects. Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office, along with a strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws, is essential. Certified Public Accountant status is required, and fluency in English is mandatory.
